Dear Dr. Starkman:
\J First I want to thank-you for consenting to participate in the \F1The Future
of Cars--Energy, Environment and Economics\F0 segment of the annual meeting of the
AAAS to be held January 27-31, 1975 in New York.
The symposium is scheduled for January 27-28, 1975 in the Regency Ballroom
of the Americana Hotel.
There will be a morning and an afternoon session on each day; each session
consisting of four speakers, a panel discussion and questions from the floor.
The proposed timing is one half hour for each speaker and one hour for
panel discussion and open questioning.
Your session on regulatory issues will be on the morning of Tuesday, January 28th.
I am confident that your
expertise will contribute significantly to making this session both informative
and meaningful.
I have been in contact with Dr. Eric Stork of the Environmental Protection
Agency, who agreed to participate providing that he could do so in conjunction
with a senior representative of the automobile industry such as yourself.
Since he has been on vacation, I have not been able to communicate your
participation to him or to schedule his. However, I expect to be able to
do this in the near future.
I enclose a copy of the draft announcement of the symposium
and shall send along further information as it becomes available.\.
Sincerely yours,
John McCarthy
